Owner Sylvia Darby is passionate about LIFE! She wants to help people discover the multiple blessings of taking care of their own “temple” including benefits to the body, mind and spirit. “I’m trying to better myself each day, and from that experience guiding others to embrace the mindset and discipline needed to approach their own lives with that same attitude.”
“What drives me to wake up every day is unconditional love for two little boys that have forever changed my life, and a solid commitment to a future with an amazing husband that has been beside me through the good, the bad and the often ugly of creating a business and family at the same time,” she says. “This 7,000-square-foot facility has been a labor of love and holds an incredibly dedicated and talented group of coaches as well as a community of amazing athletes, all of which I am beyond blessed to call my family.”
Owner Daniel D. Darby uses his engineering background to bring the perfect blend of CrossFit and personal training to Foundation F.I.T. “This has been an experience like no other,” he says. “Even with my 20 years of commercial and residential design, owning my own business and designing and building it has put me right where I want to be.”
Daniel has been CrossFitting for eight years, and his passion is to become the best version of himself on a daily basis. His love for Christ is first and foremost, he says, and it starts every day when he wakes up at 4 a.m. with a strong cup of coffee. “I ask the Lord to guide me to lead the life he has set out for me and to be the husband and father I know I am capable of being. Next I ask Him to give me guidance to be a good leader and mentor to my fellow employees and athletes.”
His favorite quote is “I know God will not give me anything I can’t handle. I just wish that He didn’t trust me so much.” — Mother Teresa
Coach Khara Chunn started playing fast pitch softball at age 4 and continued for the next 18 years, including being invited to try out for the 1996 Olympic team, receiving a scholarship to Indiana University in the Big Ten Conference, and graduating in 1999 finishing 3rd all-time in career stolen bases.
For Khara, CrossFit is a family affair. Her uncle, Lance Schaefer, is a three-time Masters CrossFit Games participant, and her mother, Vicki Good, has qualified for the Masters Games the past two years. Khara didn’t discover her love for CrossFit until after graduating from college. She needed to fill that competitive void in her life, and CrossFit was the answer. “I was hooked after one session,” she says.
Coach Stacie Barclay has been CrossFitting since 2010 and specializes in helping moms, moms-to-be, teens and beginners push past their boundaries in fitness. “A person is usually capable of far more than they would have pushed themselves to try on their own, and I love being the one to give a little encouragement to make it happen!” she says.
Her fitness career began when she was teaching spin classes that happened to overlap bootcamp classes that Dan and Sylvia taught. “I went from being terrified of them (as my Spin class overlapped with their bootcamp, and I was in their territory), to falling in love with their vision of starting a CrossFit gym,” she says. “I was hooked after one class, and I haven’t looked back since!”
Coach Lauren Berczynski has been working as a personal trainer for eight years and has been an athlete all her life. Inspiration from her 7th grade basketball trainer got her where she is today. “He pushed my team to our max each and every day and never let us quit no matter the circumstance,” she says. “It was those moments where I wanted to quit and did not think I could get through the workout that felt so good. At the end of our basketball season, when my team out ran every team we played and made every shot we took, that I realized the importance of proper strength and conditioning training.”
Earning her degree in Community Health and Exercise Physiology and certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine began her passion to train any type of person seeking any type of fitness level. “Sometimes the little push you need is having someone there who believes in you and is always proud of you,” she says. “I will always be that person for anyone who needs it.”

While he might specialize in Programming and Sports Performance Development, Phil’s love for fitness shines when working with CrossFit athletes of all skill levels. “I love the light bulb/confident moments!! When someone who has been struggling with a movement and all of the sudden BOOM! they finally get it.”
Phil has been an athlete for most of his life, starting with team sports growing up then becoming a collegiate football as a linebacker, all of which culminating in a degree in exercise science once realizing his passion for training. While he may have only found CrossFit a year ago, he quickly achieved his CrossFit Level 1 Certification, to go along with an array of other certifications. For Phil, fitness is not just a hobby. “Sports have always been a huge part of my life and I know what it did for me in making who I am today,” he says. “I only hope that I can make my members lives better and to help them have an impact outside of the gym at home, at work, and in the community!”
